Our mother, Helen L. Craig passed from this walk of life and entered into the arms of her Heavenly Father on Thursday, January 9, 2020 after a 5-year battle with Alzheimer’s. She was born September 18, 1931 in Morgantown, WV to parents Giovanni “John” and Maria Folio Aloia. She was the youngest of 9 children. She attended St. Francis DeSalva High School and graduated in 1950.
She traveled the world and visited and lived in many beautiful places. Her favorite, by far, was Hawaii where she raised her family. She visited several of the islands and each one held special memories. When we settled in PA, she set up another home and could be found in her garden for hours at a time. Mom was an accomplished seamstress and was especially proud of all her Halloween costumes. Our mom loved to dance and dance and dance and sing. She loved her “oldies” and when she heard her favorites, look out because she couldn’t sit still. Many times, Mom would wear us out with her energy. She is definitely “Our Special Angel”. She was especially proud when she became a Nana. Jennifer and Jason are her two shiny, bright lights.
One of the things Mom really enjoyed was her bartending jobs at Hillside Café and Puliti’s. Mom had a few specialty drinks that she loved to share with people, especially her son in law. She met and made many good friends on the road of her life.
She was predeceased by her parents, siblings, ex-husband and very dear friend and companion Jim Ernest.
Helen is survived by her daughters Vicki (Richard) Price of Conway, SC. Terri (Steve) Geiling of Dillsburg. Grandchildren: Jennifer Price of Myrtle Beach and Jason (Sarah) Geiling of Mechanicsburg and a special nephew Raymond “Butch” (Renee) Humphries of Strongsville, OH.
The family would like to especially thank Andrea Stiles, Mary Rivera and Tasha Wicks-Forman of The Woods at Cedar Run for their friendship and special relationship with our Mother. Also, Francesca Washington and Pam Ramsey from Homeland Hospice. We also would like to thank the entire staff at The Woods at Cedar Run. A very special thank you to a great friend to our family, Jen Schultz Taylor, who gave Mom her love and compassion during her stay.
As Mom requested, there will be no funeral service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to The Woods at Cedar Run, Camp Hill or Homeland Hospice, Harrisburg.
